Lydia Jean King, age 70, a lifelong resident of Green Bay, passed away Sunday, December 5, 2021 with her loving partner of 50 years, E. LaMont Bitton, at her side. She was born October 29, 1951, daughter of the late Arthur and Thelma (Turk) Gugel and was a graduate of Green Bay West High School.
After graduating high school, Lydia continued her education at UW-Green Bay, where she earned a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology, graduating Suma Kum Laude. Lydia worked as a nurse for Brown County and for Odd Fellow Nursing Home. Lydia then was employed by the State of Wisconsin as a parole/probation officer for over 30 years, where she was able to utilize her degree in psychology and make a positive impact in the lives of those she supervised.
Lydia met the love of her life, LaMont Bitton, in Seattle, where she was working as a nurse. They remained partners in life for 50 years. The couple enjoyed their buying and selling, maintaining booths at various antique stores in the area. She also enjoyed reading and she loved her cats.
Lydia is survived by her partner, E. LaMont Bitton; a sister, Delores Vazka and a brother, Roland Gugel. She is further survived by nieces, nephews and spoiled feline companion, Jasmine.
Visitation will be held at Shrine of the Good Shepherd Mausoleum (2770 Bay Settlement Rd., Green Bay), Saturday, December 11, 2021 from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM. A sharing of memories will follow at 12:30 PM.
