Lucy Ann DeWan, 87, of Green Bay, beloved wife of the late John "Jack" H. DeWan, departed this life on Thursday, March 17, 2016 at St. Vincent Hospital surrounded by her loving family.
Lucy was born on June 30, 1928 in Green Bay, WI, daughter of the late Oliver and Lucy (Reynolds) Simon. She was a graduate of St. Joseph's Academy and then attended St. Scholastica College in Duluth, MN. She spent her life as a homemaker taking wonderful care of her family. She was known for cooking and homemade baking. She was a communicant of St. Mary of the Angels Parish. She was an avid reader, enjoyed listening to music, watching the Triple Crown, and was an avid Packer Backer. Lucy's greatest legacy is that of an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend.
Lucy's memory will live on through her children: Mary "Sibyl" DeWan of Las Vegas, NV, Matthew (Christine) DeWan of Green Bay, Martha (Harry) Huguet of Green Bay, and Shelley (Scott) DeWan-Ziemer of Green Bay, WI and son-in-law Gary Vincent. She also leaves her sister, Jeanette Bodilly of Puyallup, WA, along with 7 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren, along with her special niece, Julie Simon of Green Bay and several other nieces and nephews. Lucy is preceded in death by a daughter, Marjorie Vincent, a grandson, Evan DeWan, and a very special friend Mary Rose Simon. She also is preceded in death by her siblings: Robert, Eugene, James, Oliver Simon Jr., and Helen Healy.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 23rd from 10:30 AM - 12:00 PM at St. Mary of the Angels Parish. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 12:00 PM. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed to: St. Mary of the Angels Catholic Education. The Newcomer Funeral Home of Green Bay is entrusted with arrangements.
