Lois Mae August

Lois Mae August, 85, of Green Bay, passed away on March 25, 2024.

Lois was born on April 20, 1938 to John and Irene (Lewins) Wettengel in Green Bay. She graduated from Green Bay East High School and married her high school sweetheart, Don Nelson, soon after graduation and together they had six children. Don and Lois spent 13 years together married and the rest of his life together as companions. She met Jerry August and together they got married, expanding the family from six children to eight. Lois loved golfing, gardening (family would always catch her picking weeds for hours) and cooking for the family.

Lois is survived by her loving children: Lori (Doug) Krizenesky, Grover (Maggie) Nelson, Donald (Lyndi) Nelson, Lisa (Tom) Van Boxel, Carl Nelson and Eric (Wendy) August; 19 grandchildren: Leah, Kristy, Joey, Jill, Laura, Ivry, Amanda, Matt, Molly, Ryan, Jessica, Elizabeth, Ben, Brent, Brady, Jonny, Melanie, Avery, Natalie, Alison and Alexis; 32 great-grandchildren: Caeden, Calvin, Madison, Sydney, Ashton, Austin, Ali, Aiden, Charlie, Lilah, Abraham, Emery, Ava, Tyler, Braydon, Chandler, Brooklyn, Payton, Faith, Alexis, Bennet, Ryland, Josie, Ellie, Charlotte, Jasmine, Jada, Noah, Sully and Saban; and her brother, Jimmy (Peg) Wettengel.

She was preceded in death by her children, Tim Nelson and Tony August; her parents; siblings: Jack, Carl, Nancy and Edie; and Don Nelson.

A visitation will be held on Friday, April 5, 2024 from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals, Receptions, 340 S. Monroe Ave, Green Bay. A memorial service for Lois will begin at 3:00 p.m.

The family would like to extend a thank you to the staff at Bayshore Village and Unity Hospice.
