Leslie (Lazslo) Turos, 85, passed away at Unity Hospice in De Pere on Wednesday, January 8, 2014. He was born on March 28, 1928, to Janos Turos & Ezster (Turos) Turos in Kolozsvar, Hungary.
Leslie served in the military in Hungary as a pilot, and also four years in the U.S. Army, receiving an honorable discharge in 1954. He returned to Europe and raised his family until he could arrange to return to the United States. Ten years later, in October 1963, with the sponsorship of Grace Lutheran Church, he realized his dream of bringing his family to America and settled in Green Bay, WI.
He worked as a tool and die designer for Krueger Metal Products, currently known as Krueger International (KI) in Green Bay, WI.
He is survived by his wife Frieda (Hertlein) Turos, 5 children, 6 grandchildren. Children include two daughters, Barbara (Turos) Hubbard and Esther Turos; three sons, Kalman Turos and wife Mary of Peculiar MO, Laszlo Turos and wife Cathy of Fernley, NV and Dezso Turos of Green Bay. Grandchildren include Trace Hubbard, Tru Hubbard, Hannah Turos, Jesse Turos, Elizabeth Kussow,Brandon Turos and Dale Bennett.
Visitors are welcome from 10:00am until 11:00am on Saturday, January 18, 2014, at Shrine of the Good Shepherd Mausoleum Chapel, 2770 Bay Settlement Rd., Green Bay. A memorial service will be held at 11:00am on Saturday at the Chapel with Pastor Larry Lange officiating.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
