Leroy Norman Jaeger

June 5, 1924 — February 12, 2017

LeRoy Norman Jaeger, age 92, of Green Bay, passed away unexpectedly, Sunday, February 12, 2017 . Born June 5, 1924 in the township of Underhill in Oconto County, son of the late Gust and Eleanora (Seifert) Jaeger. He was a 1942 graduate of Casco High School. He was very active in sports, receiving many awards. He received a letter from the Brooklyn National League Baseball Club as a player of outstanding athletic ability to present himself for a tryout.

In October 1944 when World War II broke out, he and his brother, Alfred, served 2 1/2years in the Army where they were stationed together in Italy. He enjoyed going on the Old Glory Honor Flight to Washington D.C.

LeRoy married Lorna Miesler, September 10, 1949 at St. John Lutheran Church, Luxemburg. Together they shared 67 loving years of marriage and raised a son.

After relocating to Green Bay, he was employed at Milprint, De Pere, for 40 years. While there he was one of the organizers of the Milprint Credit Union. Through mergers they became Pioneer Credit Union and is now Capital Credit Union. He was given an award for 48 years as a member of the Board of Directors.

LeRoy was an outstanding pitcher and received many trophies and awards in the Door County Cherry, Green Bay City and Church Baseball/Softball Leagues.

LeRoy enjoyed fishing with family and friends and was a member of the Great Lakes Sport Fishing Club. He was an avid Packer fan and parked cars at games for 40 years; he was also in attendance at the 1967 Ice Bowl Game.

LeRoy and Lorna were active volunteers at the Weidner Center, the Meyer Theater and the St. Norbert Music Theater.

LeRoy is survived by his loving wife, Lorna; his son, Dale (Teri) Jaeger; 2 brothers, Alfred (Phyllis) and Arlan (Cathy) Jaeger; sister-in-law, Mary Jaeger; nieces and nephews.

He was preceded by a brother, Winton Jaeger.

Visitation will be held at OUR SAVIOUR LUTHERAN CHURCH (120 S. Henry St., Green Bay), Saturday, February 18, 2017 from 10 to 11:45 AM. A funeral service will follow at 12 NOON with Pastor David Hatch officiating and full military honors. Interment will be in St. John Lutheran Church Cemetery, Luxemburg.

In lieu of flowers, memorials directed to Our Saviour Lutheran Church in LeRoy's name are appreciated.
