Leroy G. J. Brunette, 92, of Green Bay, passed away peacefully on September 15, 2024 at Marla Vista Manor CBRF. He was born on January 28, 1932 to Lloyd and Elsie (Daul) Brunette in Green Bay. He went to Annunciation Grade School and Central Catholic High School, graduating in 1952, followed by a tour of duty in the Naval Reserve. On January 29th, 1953, he married Janet Lea Krueger and shared 71 wonderful years of marriage and blessed with 5 children. After his tour of duty, he went to work at Northern Paper Mill and retired after 42 years.
Upon retiring, Leroy and Janet enjoyed traveling, spending winters in Texas and summers in Oconto camping or at their cottage in Shawano. He enjoyed Packer Football and was known for always saying hello and smiling, sharing stories, and playing cards while sipping cocktails with family and friends. Leroy had a way of supporting his family with prayer, love and a never ending positive attitude. He always had a silly song to sing with the grandchildren. Leroy's true love in life was his wife, Janet and the bond they shared for life.
Leroy is survived by his loving wife, Janet, three sons: Thomas, Daniel (Nora), and Russ (Kirsten) Brunette; two sons-in-law: Greg Hornick and Donald Johnson; nine grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, two daughters: Theresa Hornick and Mary Johnson.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 3, 2024 at St. Willebrord Catholic Parish, 209 S. Adams St, Green Bay; friends and family may visit at the church from 8:30 am until 10:15 am with Mass of Christian Burial continuing at 10:30 am with Father Andrew Cribben, O. Praem. Private inurnment will take place in the Fort Howard Memorial Park.
The family would like to extend a thank you to the staff at Marla Vista Assisted Living and Memory Care, also Heartland Hospice for their loving care and compassion.
