Leonard "Len" E. Bluma, age 83, of Green Bay, passed away on Wednesday, February 21, 2018, after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's Disease, and now completes the "Bowling Team in Heaven" with Howie Nowak, Bill Vande Hei, Wayne Nejedlo and Dick Faltynski.
He was born on February 1, 1935, in Green Bay, to the late Edward & Julia (Rozmiarek) Bluma.
Len attended Central Catholic High School. He retired from Fort Howard Paper Company after 30 years of employment in 1997.
He married Rita on May 28, 1966, at St. Mary of the Angels Catholic Church, at which time he became a devoted step-father to Rita's children.
Len was an avid bowler and was inducted into the Green Bay Bowling Hall of Fame in 1989. He bowled in many leagues and played softball. Len and Rita moved to Green Valley, AZ in 2000, returning at the onsite of Len's illness. While living in Green Valley, AZ, Len enjoyed playing table tennis, billiards and made many new friends.
Len and Rita were members of St. Willebrord Parish.
He is survived by his wife, Rita Bluma; five step-children, Lauren Grandaw of Green Bay, Douglas Nick of Green Bay, Gregg Nick of Olathe, KS, Leanne (Mark) Zey of Tomahawk, WI and Tamara DeGayner of Circle Pines, MN; ten step-grandchildren, Kyle, Drew, Halle, Michelle, Robert, Evan, A.J., Emme, Izzi and Lilia; four great-grandchldren; sisters, Helen LeCaptain and Carolyn (Tom) Kemper; brothers, James Bluma CSC and Bert (Dawn) Bluma; special niece, Ann Kay Seigel; sisters-in-law, Etta Quatsoe and Donna Jaskolski.
He is preceded in death by siblings, infant brother Alvin, Rev. Dacian Bluma OFM, Esther Arvey; brothers-in-law, Basil Arvey and Jim LeCaptain; and Rita's siblings and their spouses.
Visitation will be held from 9:00 am until 10:30 am on Monday, February 26, 2018, at St. Willebrord Parish, 209 E. Adams Street, Green Bay. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 am on Monday. To leave a message for the family, please visit www.NewcomerGreenBay.com.
