Leon E. Scharmann, age 76, of Oconto, passed away Thursday, December 17, 2015 in Green Bay, with his loving daughter and family at his side. He was born July 26, 1939 in Appleton, WI, son of the late Elmer and Louise (DeHut) Scharmann.
After graduating from high school, Leon enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served our country for over 20 years. While enlisted, Leon was stationed all over the world, including Turkey, Alaska, England, Japan and he ended his career in Greece where he met and married Debbie Psoma and welcomed their daughter, Louise.
Leon loved the outdoors, especially fishing-went every day that he was able. He loved hunting when he couldn't fish. He made many friends out on the Bay. He was most fond of his grandchildren, spending time spoiling them at every opportunity. They will miss him the most.
Leon is survived by his daughter, Louise (Jim) Ferron; grandchildren: Gabriella, Jayden, Blake, Alysha and Katelin Ferron; sisters: Bonnie (Tom) Scharmann, Sharon (Bill) Semrau, Diane (Craig) LeFebre, Debbie (Rick) Luisier and Suzanne Perrizo; brother-in-law, Jack Trepanier; many nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Nancy Trepanier; nephews, Scott Trepanier and Brad La Combe and his beloved Pug, Rocky-his best friend.
Friends and relatives may call at the NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, (340 S. Monroe Avenue, Green Bay) on Monday, December 21, 2015 from 4 to 5:45 PM. A prayer service will follow at 6 PM with full military honors.
Louise would like to extend a special thank you to her aunts, uncles, cousins and family for all of their help and support. She would also like to thank the staff on 4th Floor at Bellin and Michelle and her staff at Unity Hospice for their exceptional care of Leon during his final days.
He was the best Dad and Grandpa. We love and miss him more than words could express. Until we meet again-Love you Dad!
