Leland "Lee" J. Cornette, age 76, of Sturgeon Bay, passed away unexpectedly at his home, Sunday, March 16, 2025. He was born in Green Bay, WI, January 5, 1949, son of the late Louis and Blanche (Jeanquart) Cornette.

Lee was a graduate of Southern Door High School. He enlisted in the US Army in April of 1969. Lee proudly served his country during the Vietnam Era, as a decorated soldier, until his honorable discharge in December of 1971. After his military service, he met the love of his life, Carol Dimmer. They were married June 8, 1974 and shared over 50 loving years as husband and wife, blessed with 2 daughters, April and Tracy and 2 grandsons, Alex and Aiden.

Lee worked as a boilermaker/scaffolding builder with Bay Shipbuilding, retiring after 36 1/2 dedicated years. In his spare time he enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially watching wildlife. He also loved tending to his garden and working with his tractors.

Leland is survived by his wife, Carol; his daughters, April Cornette and Tracy Cornette; 2 grandsons, Alex and Aiden Gosser and 2 siblings, Linda Kinnard and Wayne (Dianne) Cornette, siblings-in law: Mary Ann Bader, Joan (Larry) LeMense, Nancy (Tom) Malcore, Leo Jr. (Vicki) Dimmer, Dan (Sharon) Dimmer, Don (Pattie) Dimmer. He is further survived by 2 aunts; Sr. Claudette Jeanquart and Shirley LeCloux, a special Army buddy whom he served with in Korea, Bob Harris, nieces, nephews as well as other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Ervin Cornette; a sister, Nancy Brown and an infant sister.

A celebration of life will be held by Lee's family at a later date.
