Lawrence R. "Larry" Phipps, age 80, of Green Bay, passed away Thursday, March 24, 2022, with his loving wife and son at his side. He was born February 24, 1942 in Flint, MI, son of the late Fred and Dorothea (Handy) Phipps and was a graduate of Leelanau School, Glen Arbor, MI, Class of 1959.
After high school, he continued his education at Michigan State University, where he earned his Bachelor's Degree in Special Education and met the love of his life, Carole Kroll. They married January 8, 1966 in Green Bay and shared 56 wonderful years together. He attended Eastern Michigan University, earning his Master's Degree in Counseling. Larry held different positions within the Jackson, MI Public School District, including: high school counselor, classroom teacher and teacher of homebound students, retiring after 40 years. Throughout his career, Larry had the privilege of touching many lives through his dedication and ability to connect with his students.
Larry enjoyed many hobbies, including fishing, reading, golfing, tennis, skiing and tinkering with stereo equipment. He held a tender spot in his heart for animals and welcomed all of the many animals brought home by his children. Larry loved connecting with people and never met a stranger. He was a man of strong faith, a devoted husband, proud father and grandfather.
Lawrence is survived by his wife, Carole; his 3 children: Jody (Chris) Wells, Nick (Tricia) Phipps and Laura (Mike) Seward and 5 grandchildren: Taylor and Trevor Seward, Von and Carole Wells and Addyson Phipps.
Visitation will be held at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish (2771 Oakwood Dr., Green Bay, WI), Saturday, April 2, 2022 from 9 to 11 AM. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 AM. Burial will be in Allouez Catholic Cemetery.
