Lawrence "Larry" T. Pleau Jr.

June 27, 1944 — November 30, 2024

Green Bay

With great sadness, the family of Lawrence T. Pleau Jr., announces his passing on November 30, 2024. Larry was 80 years old at the time of his death.

He was born in Green Bay, WI on June 27, 1944 to the late Della (Vine) and Lawrence Pleau Sr.

Larry married the love of his life, Cheryl Joniaux on August 20, 1966.

Larry was employed at Green Bay Drop Forge for 20 years where he held the position of Shipping and Receiving Supervisor before retiring at the age of 41 due to complications after suffering a major heart attack. Larry underwent a successful heart transplant procedure on his 42nd birthday at the University of Minnesota Fairview Hospital. His health remained stable until he needed a kidney transplant in 2004, which he received from his daughter, Renee.

Larry enjoyed working in the yard, tending to his and Cheryl's colorful flower garden, watching old western television shows and listening to classic country music.

His greatest joy though, was spending time with his kids and grandkids. Larry was always willing to answer the call when anyone needed help with anything from babysitting, running errands and even helping with yardwork. It brought a smile to anyone who heard him pick up the phone and say, "Big Daddy here."

Larry is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Cheryl; their 4 children: Michelle (Pat) Peterson, Renee (Dave) Swanson, Scott (Bridget) Pleau and Tracy Rojas; grandchildren: Ava (Jacob), Kyle (Megan), Alana (Josh), Leah, Kayla (Ian), Jaden, Dylan, Devin and Jade; 3 great-grandchildren (and another due in July) and siblings: Carol Hansel, Linda Reiter, Rose Brenton, Sharon Pleau, Darlene Georgel, Cyndi Gossen, Dennis Miller, Brian Bierhals and Tami Sorenson.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Mike; sisters: Barbara, Judy, Margaret and Anita and a nephew, Jim.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to all the doctors, nurses and other staff that have taken care of Larry throughout his 38 year post heart transplant and 20 year post kidney transplant journey. Special thanks to Woodside Lutheran Home and Unity Hospice for their care and compassion.

At Larry's request, there will be no memorial service.

When tomorrow starts without me and I am not here to see, if the sun should rise and find your eyes all filled with tears for me. I wish so much you wouldn't cry the way you did today, while thinking of the many things we didn't get time to say. I know how much you love me, as much as I love you, and each time you think of me I know you'll miss me too. But when tomorrow starts without me, please try hard to understand, that an angel came and called my name and took me by the hand.

"I will cherish you always and I will forever be your girl.

I love you, Sherri."
