Lawrence R. Heim

April 1, 1941 — November 14, 2019

Lawrence "Larry" Richard Heim peacefully passed away in his sleep at Bornemann Senior Communities in Green Bay on November 14, 2019 at the age of 78. Larry was the second child, and the first son, of the late Margaret Genevieve (Lefebvre) and Richard Jacob Heim, born in Green Bay, WI on April 1, 1941.

From early on, Larry showed an innate artistic ability, often drawing pictures of his surroundings and people he knew. Larry taught himself photography, sketching, oil and watercolor painting, wood carving, and wood burning. He became an accomplished "amateur" artist in all these mediums. Larry also enjoyed hunting and fishing with his father and uncles as a youngster. Upon graduation from Premontre High School in Green Bay, Larry joined the Air Force where he trained as a medic.

After honorably serving for 4 years, Larry came back to Green Bay where he met and married Margaret "Marge" Ann Becker. They began their life together with the birth of their daughter Michele, who was quickly followed by her three siblings - Jessica, Michael, and Martin. Larry passed his love for adventure and the outdoors onto his four children, often taking them for walks in the woods by their cottage and teaching them about nature. Larry also taught his children to fish, hunt, sail, and most importantly, how to cling tightly to an old tractor tire tube while cruising behind a speed boat in the Bay. Both Larry and his sons have enjoyed caribou and bear hunting in Canada and elk hunting in Oregon.

In his later years, Larry retired to Eagle River, WI where he enjoyed trout fishing, deer hunting, and snowmobiling. After a few years, Larry moved back to Green Bay and started playing bridge and volunteering at St. Vincent de Paul while continuing to pursue his artistic interests by taking classes offered by local artists. Larry also enjoyed attending his children's and grandchildren's sporting and school events.

Larry will be lovingly remembered and missed by his children and their spouses: Michele Nur, Jessica and Douglas Thomson, Michael Heim, and Martin and Cynthia Heim; his grandchildren: Khadija, Samiirah, Jabriil, and Ismaiil Nur; Justin, Jacqueline, and Nicholas Heim; Noah Thomson; Augusta and Holly Heim; his sister: Phyllis Treml; and his nieces and nephew: Susan Ferrell, Timothy Treml, and Anne Olson. Larry is preceded in death by his brother Lyle Heim.

Larry's life will be celebrated at Newcomer Funeral Home on Thursday, November 21 with visitation at 5:00 followed by a Memorial Service at 7:00. Larry will be laid to rest at Allouez Catholic Cemetery in Green Bay next to his parents. On-line condolences for the family may be offered at: http://lawrence-richard-heim.forevermissed.com . Memorial donations may be sent to the Vasculitis Foundation, PO Box 28660, Kansas City, MO 64188 or the United Service Organization (uso.org).

The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at Aurora Medical Center and Aurora Hospice, and the Bornemann Senior Communities caregivers for their attentive care and compassion.

Rest in peace, Larry
