Kenneth J. King, 82, De Pere, passed away with his wife by his side on Saturday, June 14, 2014, from Parkinson's disease.
He was born on April 27, 1932, in Green Bay, to the late Bernard & Rosella (VerBust) King.
Ken married Patricia Geyer on February 16, 1952, in Green Bay. Together they raised six children.
He worked for Georgia Pacific in various roles for forty-five years, retiring in 1994. Ken received a letter from the Governor commending his years of service to the company.
Ken enjoyed fishing, hunting and spending time outdoors at his cabin on Lee Lake. He loved to travel and visit family and friends across the country. Ken enjoyed and will be remembered for smoking his pipe with cherry blend tobacco.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Pat; children, Michael J. King, Kathleen (Charles) Cary, Patricia (Robert) Ashton, Julie King, Sheri King and Chris King; sixteen grandchildren; and eighteen great-grandchildren; siblings, Marilyn (Mike) Corbeile, Larry (Carol) King, Darlene (Al) Leanna, and Gene (Sandra) King; and many friends and family members.
Visitation will be held from 3:00pm until a concluding prayer service at 7:00pm on Wednesday, June 18, 2014, at Newcomer Funeral Home, 340 S. Monroe Ave., Green Bay. *(Monroe Ave., is closed. Access to funeral home is available off Madison St., one block West of Monroe and one block north of Chicago)* Visitation will continue from 9:30am until 11:00am on Thursday, June 19, 2014, at Resurrection Catholic Church, 333 Hilltop Drive, Green Bay. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00am at the church with Bishop Robert Morneau officiating. Private entombment will be at Allouez Chapel Mausoleum.
In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the doctors, staff, and hospice at Aurora, Dr. Kaufman, and Dr. Kim for their care and support during Ken's illness. Also, a special thanks to Bishop Morneau and staff at Resurrection Church.
