Kathleen L. "Kathy" Hollander, age 71, of Green Bay, passed away peacefully, Sunday, June 18, 2023, with family at her side. She was born February 5, 1952 in New London, WI, daughter of the late Raymond and Ellen (Wheeler) Dearth and was a graduate of Little Wolf High School, Manawa, WI.
As a child, Kathy resided in various places with her mom and dad including Illinois and California. She settled in Wausau, WI in her later 20's where she primarily worked as a CNA to provide for her young family. When her health no longer allowed her to work as a caregiver, she began working for Riiser Oil, retiring after many years of service. Eventually, Kathy relocated to Green Bay to be closer to her daughter and grandchildren.
Kathy was a very passionate fan of the Chicago Bears. She truly loved decorating and her holiday decor was elaborate to say the least. Gardening was something she enjoyed, as well as feeding/watching birds. She was an active mom and was involved in her daughter's activities such as Girls Scouts, where she volunteered as Troop Leader. Her greatest joy was being a grandma to her grandsons, Zander and Carter.
Kathleen is survived by her daughter, Jodi (Jim) Bankes; grandsons, Zander and Carter Bankes and siblings: Debbie (Bob) Prahl, Michael (Margie) Dearth and Mark (Mary) Dearth. She is further survived by a brother-in-law, Mark Snyder, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her former husband, James Hollander; her former partner, Willie Duerr; 2 siblings, Patricia (Al) Chambers and Cynthia Snyder.
Visitation will be held at Newcomer-Green Bay Chapel (340 S. Monroe Ave., Green Bay), Wednesday, June 28, 2023 from 1 to 3 PM. A memorial service will follow at 3 PM.
Kathy's family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the staff and residents at Alpha Senior Concepts and The Bay, the staff of Moments Hospice and to St. Mary's Hospital for their care, support and compassion.
