Karl H. Missbach

Karl H. Missbach, 80, passed away peacefully at home Sunday, November 30, 2014. He was born January 25, 1934 in Detroit, MI to the late Karl Heinrich and Alwine (Trennepol) Missbach. At the age of 3, Karl's family moved to Milwaukee, WI. When Karl was 12, his family moved to Marinette, WI.

Karl graduated from Marinette high school on June 4th 1952. He worked at several jobs before he went to college. He graduated from Marinette Teachers College and then went on to teach in two country schools in the Marinette area.

Karl married the love of his life Joyce V. (Landwehr) Missbach June 3, 1961 in her home town of Mattoon, WI. He finished his B.S. degree at Oshkosh, graduating in 1963.

His graduation was delayed when he was called to active service with the National Guards. He served at Fort Leonard Wood for a year.

Karl's career included teaching in many of the Denmark area schools including teaching social studies at Denmark Junior High and art at the county schools. He taught grades 4-8 at Bungalow School. He taught in the East De Pere School District for 34 years. Including 7 years in a dual role of teacher/building principal at Irwin School and 27 years as a fourth grade teacher at Dickinson School. Karl loved teaching children, leaving a positive effect on the lives of many students.

Karl loved raising animals on his hobby farm. He loved dogs and could not live without one in his life. He was proud of his German heritage and spoke fluent German. His love for travel led to 2 trips to Germany where he met all his cousins on his father's side.

Karl is survived by his wife, Joyce; daughter, Lisa (Steve) DeTemple Earlsville, IL; sons, Todd (Jamie) Missbach Danville, KY and Timm (Janet) Missbach Ashwaubenon, WI; grandchildren, Nathan, Naomi, Tylar, Kennedi, Regan, Samuel, and Greta. He is also survived by numerous family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Edith (Missbach) Plautz; cousins, Bert Haller, Bernice (Vonheimburg) Mastri, and Edna Teasdale.


Visitation will be held Thursday December 4, 2014 from 4:00pm to 7:00pm at Newcomer Funeral Home, 340 S. Monroe Ave. Green Bay. Military honors will be held at 7:00pm. Visitation will continue Friday December 5, 2014 at 10:00am at First United Methodist Church 501 Howe St. Green Bay, WI. Funeral Service will be held at 11:00am.
