Karen L. Shuma
Green Bay - Karen (DeWolfe) Shuma passed away on Tuesday, June 18, 2024.
Born July 4, 1940 in Wauwatosa, WI. Karen grew up in Green Bay, WI and graduated from West High School in 1958. After graduation she worked for Donald Kiernan, DDS. She joined the Air Force November 20, 1962 and was stationed at Cape Cod, Massachusetts where she met her future husband, Ray. After four years of service she moved to Santa Monica, CA where she worked for the RAND Corporation and Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company.
Karen married Ray Shuma on August 8, 1972. Ray, a native of Nanicoke, PA and still in the Air Force had just returned from Vietnam. They started their life together in Wiesbaden, Germany where she worked for Wilson Sporting Goods. They transferred to Ramstein AFB, Germany where she worked in Civil Service for the USAF. Upon returning to USA they were stationed in Alexandria, LA where she worked in the emergency room at Rapides General Hospital. They were stated a short while at KI Sawyer AFB, MI where her husband retired. After her husband retired they moved to Green Bay, WI where she worked for NWTC until her retirement in 2003.
Karen enjoyed traveling with her husband in Europe and several states during Ray's tour and after he retired from the Air Force. She enjoyed camping, her animals, sprucing up old furniture and watching the Green Bay Packers. Karen's greatest joys were all the different jobs she had and the people she met along the way in her work environment and her travels.
Surviving Karen is her loving husband, Ray.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Clayton and Fern DeWolfe; two brothers, Donald and Harold; sister-in-laws, Louise and Jean; and a nephew, Clayton Albert DeWolfe.
At her request, there will be no visitation or funeral services.
