Julia Ann Cross
Julia died peacefully with her family by her side on November 4th.
She was born to Louis and Georgia Riethmann on December 20, 1940 in East Saint Louis.
She graduated from Notre Dame High School in Belleville, IL, and earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Saint Louis University.
In 1963, she married W. Michael Cross, M.D., her loving husband of 49 years, with whom she raised four children.
She worked as a nurse during the early days of his training before their children were born. After his military service and medical training in New Orleans and Denver, the family moved to Green Bay, WI in 1969 where they lived until 2006. She was proud of the home she designed and built with her husband, and she enjoyed decorating it with antiques and items she collected. She was an active member of Resurrection Parish in Allouez, the Service League of Green Bay, and Green Bay Antiquarians. She enjoyed spending time with a dear circle of friends, with whom she spent many afternoons and evenings of lively conversation, laughter and companionship they called "therapy". She was devoted to her children, and provided unfailing emotional support and guidance to all of them from their childhood, through their high school and college years, and into adulthood. Her reward was her grandchildren, who were a source of endless joy to her. She loved to travel, listen to jazz and old standards, and to dance with her husband. She especially enjoyed her trips with friends and family to Marco Island and Ireland. In 2006, she and her husband retired to Vail, AZ.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Louis, and beloved cousin, Bill Marsh.
She is survived by her husband, Michael, children Michael, Andy (Jen), Molly (Dennis), Marni (Matt), her dear brother Tom (Kathy) Riethmann, and sister-in-law Elizabeth (Krekorian) Riethmann, beloved nephew Louis, and grandchildren Maureen, Marni, Dennis and Bridget O'Bryan; Erin and Meaghan Foley; and Molly Cross.
