Judy Brunette, 71, De Pere, lost her battle with lung cancer in the early morning hours of Saturday, December 23, 2023. Her husband of 49 years and 10 months, Steve, was by her side. She was born November 9, 1952 in Green Bay to James and Maurine (Johnson) Lurquin.
Judy grew up in Allouez and was a graduate of St. Joseph Academy. While in high school, she worked for her dad at Allouez Drug Store and met the love of her life, Steve Brunette. Judy and Steve were set up by mutual friends and have been together ever since. They were married on February 8, 1974, at Resurrection Church in Allouez and raised four children in their De Pere home.
After high school, Judy attended UW-Oshkosh and NWTC. She worked at Sentry Foods and Schreiber Cheese for a short time, but she found her true calling at Shopko Pharmacy in Ashwaubenon where she obtained her Pharmacy Technician certification and worked for 30 years. While there, she made many life-long friends.
Judy was a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, and Nana. She loved to spend time up north at the family cottage going for pontoon rides, floating in the lake, playing cards and games with family, and watching her children and grandchildren play on the beach. She loved to read, go to lunch with her close friends, and bake cookies with her grandkids - she made the best chocolate chip cookies and scotcheroos! Her family will miss her sarcastic and witty sense of humor, how she cried at the drop of a hat and cried even when she laughed. But they will never forget just how much she loved them and how proud she was of everything they did.
Judy is survived by her husband Steve; children: Kari Brunette, Kelly McClure, David (Chelsie) Brunette, and Katy Brunette (Dave Rauls); four grandchildren: Addison and Andrew Brunette, and Colton and Clayton McClure; siblings: Mark (Karen) Lurquin, Gregg Lurquin, and Jeanne (Roy) Darrow; and brothers and sisters-in-law: Richard (Rose) Brunette, Jim (Tess) Brunette, Tom Brunette (Gail Garcia), Nancy (Gary) Hatton, and Mike (Elissa) Brunette; further survived by many nieces, nephews, and dear friends. Judy was preceded in death by her parents, parents-in-law, Nathalie and Kenneth Brunette, brother-in-law, Patrick Brunette, and uncle, Charles Johnson.
Friends and family may visit at Grace Lutheran Church, 321 S. Madison Street, on Saturday, December 30, 2023 from 9:00 am until 11:00 am with a funeral service following at 11:00 am with Pastor Julie Wrubbel-Lange officiating.
Our family would like to extend a special thank you to the nurses on the 9th floor of St. Vincent's Hospital, St. Clare's Hospital, and Unity Hospice for their compassionate care and support, especially Lynn, Morgan, Audrey, Pat, Bethany, and Bobbi Jo.
Cancer may have taken Judy from us, but it cannot take away the love she gave us or how much we love her. We will always love you, Judy!
In lieu of flowers, and in honor of Judy's love for children, the family asks that you donate to your local school or children's charity to help children in your local area.
