Judith Lois Scott Wochos, age 91, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Monday, July 21, 2014, at Rennes Health Center in DePere. She was born on June 7, 1923 in southern Indiana to Darley and Mae Scott. Judy spent her early years in Anderson, Indiana and moved to Madison, Wisconsin at the age of 16.
She graduated from Madison West High School in 1941 and went on to study at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, graduating in 1945 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Home Economics.
Following college, Judy lived in Chicago for several years working at Marshall Fields and Encyclopedia Britannica. She was introduced to her husband, Bob Wochos, by mutual friends and they married on May 28, 1949 in Madison.
In 1951 Judy and Bob moved to San Luis Obispo, California where Bob began his medical practice in general surgery. Judy loved California but Bob missed Wisconsin, so they moved to Green Bay in 1954.
Most of all, Judy enjoyed time spent with family and friends, at the family's home in Allouez, the cottage in Dykesville, and then the Egg Harbor condominium. Tailgate parties with Bob's partners and their families during the Packers' Glory Years are fondly recalled to this day as are numerous family vacations.
Judy and Bob travelled extensively throughout the world. At home, she enjoyed gardening and reading, especially political magazines, and loved the Sunday morning television news programs. She had a dry sense of humor, which she kept until her last days.
Judy is survived by her three children: Lisa Wochos (Stuart Rich) of Lummi Island, Washington; Scott (Cindy) Wochos of Green Bay; and Sally (Rick) Dewey of Green Bay. She also is survived by her grandchildren: Robert, Michael and Laura Rich; Nicole, Mary and Julia Wochos; Alex, Kelsey and Lauren Dewey, as well as one great-grandson, Evan Dewey. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Robert; her sister, Barbara, and one son, Bobby.
Friends may gather from 10:00am until 11:00am on Monday, July 28, 2014, at Newcomer Funeral Home, 340 S. Monroe Ave., Green Bay*(Monroe Ave., is closed.
