Judith M. Wied passed away peacefully on May 21, 2021 after a brief but valiant fight with cancer. She was born on October 20, 1945 in Green Bay, Wisconsin to Justin and Irene (née Ritchie) Wied.
Judy was part of the first graduating class at NWTI and worked as a surgical tech at St. Vincent's Hospital for 35 years. She loved her career in healthcare and made lifelong friends while doing work she considered important and worthwhile.
Judy had a naturally cheerful disposition and was a friend to all. She loved to laugh, fish, play cards, and watch sports, especially the Brewers or the Packers. She was a confident woman who had firm opinions on everything from the daily news to appropriate pizza toppings, and you always knew where she stood. She was a good listener and had compassion for people and animals alike.
Her family brought her a lot of joy. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Judy was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers: Bob, Donald, Tom, and Steve. She's survived by her daughter, Lori (Leon) Brudnicki; her grandchildren: Kaitlin (Matthew) Dunford, Emma (Devin) Vanderwood, Max (Courtney) Brudnicki, and Sam Brudnicki; her siblings: Rosemary Reineck, Jackie (Mike) Kaster, Kathy (Ralph) Leiterman, Jerry (Chris) Wied, Mary Jo Wied, and Theresa Edlebeck; and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at Newcomer-Green Bay (340 S. Monroe Ave., Green Bay), Monday, May 31, 2021 from 4 to 6 PM. A memorial service will follow at 6 PM.
Judy's family would like to thank Green Bay Oncology, Dr. Jaslowski, Dr. Winkler, and the 5th floor nurses at St. Mary's Hospital for their compassionate care.
