Our beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, Joyce Mary Flahive (née Pusch), a long-time resident of the Green Bay area, died peacefully Wednesday, October 4, 2023, at Aurora Medical Center surrounded by her loving family.
She will be fondly remembered by her large family; her children and spouses: Karen (Paul), Kevin (Anne), Kathi (Chris) and Karlene (Jim); her grandchildren and spouses: Katherine (Corey), Maighread (John), Abigail (Cody), Matthew, Meghan (Brian), MacKenzie (Scott), Kiersten, Christos, Cassandra (Eric), Cory, Tyla (Shane), Leah (Anthony), Riley (Amy), Brody and Bailey; and 21 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Mary Alice Lampshire (Bob) and her family.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 61 years (Ronald Joseph Flahive), daughter-in-law (Anne Flahive), her parents (Elmer and Ellen Pusch), and a brother (Robert).
Born in 1932 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Joyce attended Messmer High School, where she met the love of her life Ron. Married in 1952, Ron and Joyce established their family, eventually moving to Green Bay, Wisconsin. Joyce quickly rooted herself in the community, built a long-time career at Younkers, became an active member of Resurrection Catholic Church, and ran the household with four busy children.
In her later years, Joyce enjoyed attending the many activities of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She chatted her mornings away at Tuesday breakfast with her girlfriends and cheered on every Wisconsin sports team. Throughout her life, Joyce used her talent of sewing to make everything from prom dresses for her children, Barbie dresses for her grandchildren, and many, many baby blankets for her great-grandchildren.
A visitation and funeral mass will be held at Resurrection Catholic Church on Monday, October 9th, with a visitation from 12:00pm and service at 1:00pm.
Newcomer Cremations, Funerals and Receptions Green Bay is assisting the family.
