Joy Mongin (Janssen-LeMieux), 81, of Green Bay died Thursday morning September 19, 2013, at Community Memorial Hospital in Menomonee Falls. The daughter of the late Robert and Mabel (De Noble) Janssen was born in De Pere, WI on October 26, 1931. On June 25, 1975, Joy married Thomas Mongin, bringing her and her daughter Lisa into the Mongin family. Tom and Joy shared 34 loving years together, along with their six children and their spouses, 18 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Tom passed away in 2009.

Joy was a long time resident of the West DePere and Allouez area. She graduated from St. Norbert's College and became an elementary school teacher, teaching early on at Eisenhower School in Green Bay and then Webster School in Allouez until her retirement.

Joy enjoyed dancing, singing in the St. Matthew Church choir with Tom, and especially spending time with her family and friends. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Her loving family includes her children: Ann (James) Mennen, Merritt Island, FL; Joel (Christine) Mongin, De Pere, WI; Lisa (John) Doorley, Menomonee Falls, WI; Daniel Mongin, Newport News, VA; Alan (Tamera) Mongin, Grayslake, IL; and Mark (Ann) Mongin, Appleton, WI; grandchildren include Christina, Michael, Sarah & Daniel Mennen, FL; Gracie Mongin, WI; Michael Doorley, Mark (Tyana) King-Doorley and Tania Martinez, WI; Rebecca (David) Lee, VA; Stacey (Jason) Kingsley, Germany; Danielle, Shannon, and Matthew Mongin, VA; Grant and Amy Mongin, IL; and Walter, Jack, Emily and Clara Mongin, WI; and great-grandchildren, include Carter and Addison Kingsley, Germany; Taylor and Tyler Reid, VA; Anthony and Gavin Pollash and Katina Mongin, VA; and Baby Lee on the way. She is further survived by her sister, Mary Schelter; her brother, Michael (fiancé, Barb Patterson) Janssen; sisters-in-law, Sue Janssen and Virginia Mongin; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas; her parents; daughter-in-law, Tammy Mongin; sister, Joan Sesil; brother, Robert (Buck) Janssen; and brothers-in-law, Kelly Danen and Jim Sesil.

Gathering of family and friends will be held Thursday, September 26, 2013, at Newcomer Funeral Home, 340 S. Monroe Ave., Green Bay, from 4:00pm until 7:00pm with a parish prayer service at 7:00pm. Visitation will continue on Friday at St. Matthew Catholic Church, 130 St. Matthews St., Green Bay, from 10:00am until 11:00am. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the church on Friday at 11:00am with Rev. Philip Dinh-Van-Thiep officiating.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks to the caring staff at Santa Maria Nursing Home for the many loving years of care shown to both Joy, as well as Tom, and to their entire family throughout their stay. Also to the staff at Care-Age of Brookfield and Community Memorial Hospital for their loving care for Joy during her final days.
