Josephine J. Wauters

February 13, 1933 — December 7, 2022

Josephine J. "Suzie" Wauters

It is with profound sadness that the family of Josephine Joyce Wauters announce her peaceful passing on Wednesday, December 7, 2022, at the home of her son Thomas Wauters. She was born February 13, 1933, in Milwaukee to the late Frances and Joseph Lilla Sr. Josephine married Frederick Wauters Sr. on January 18, 1954, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Green Bay. Josephine and Frederick made their home in Green Bay where they raised their 4 children and many beloved dogs and cats. Josephine worked in the customer service industry where she was highly respected and loved for the wonderful caring service she provided. Josephine was a passionate dog lover, and she would often speak of her childhood beagle, Skippy. There were many dogs in her life that gave her great joy, but Skippy and Sam (Boo Boo) were very dear to her. Josephine had a big heart and was a very generous caregiver. Often, she would be visiting and helping friends and family that needed care and comfort. Josephine was always so full of energy and life when she wasn't caring for her family, she would be off on one of her many long hikes through the city. Josephine enjoyed dancing to Big Band music with her husband and of course you didn't want to get in the way of her and her sister Rita when they were doing the Polish Hop. She was a spirited soul that loved having fun with family and friends. Often, she was the center of attention and would have everyone laughing with her. Josephine has touched the souls of many people in her life and will be greatly missed.

Josephine is lovingly remembered by her four children and their spouses, Frederick and Roxanne Wauters Jr., Suring; Thomas and Patti Wauters, Green Bay; Dale and Darlene Wauters, Shawano; Debbie and Mitch Wise, Sturgeon Bay; 8 Grandchildren, Chad Wauters; Joshua Wauters; Alan Lohman; Jack Wauters; Ashley Brennan ; Alyssa Kneesel; Francis Wauters; Lea Wauters; great grandchildren; great great grandchildren; her brother, Eugene Lilla, Krakow; 4 sister-in-laws, Phyllis Lilla; Theresa Rivitis; Bonnie McGuire; Marlene Gallenberger and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Frederick Wauters and an infant daughter, Judy Wauters; her mother, Frances Lilla; her father, Joseph Lilla, Sr.; sister, Rita Lilla; brother, Joseph Lilla Jr; 4 brother-in-laws, Richard Wauters, Bernard Gallenberger, Victor Revitis, and Roy McGuire; Mother-in-law, Rose Wauters and Father-in-law, John Wauters.
