Joseph J. Rasmussen, age 36, of Lake Geneva, passed away unexpectedly from a massive heart attack, Monday, November 21, 2022, at Aurora St. Luke's Medical Center, Milwaukee. He was surrounded by his loving family.
Joe was born in Green Bay, WI, May 13, 1986 to Ranny Rasmussen and the late Jennifer (Skaletski) Rasmussen and was a graduate of Gillett High School, Class of 2004. He continued his education at NWTC where he earned his Associate's Degree in Prototyping and Design. He went on to earn his Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Design from UW-Stout. Joe had a love of learning, so he continued on to earn another Associate's Degree in Advanced Manufacturing Technology from Gateway Tech.
While attending UW-Stout, Joe met the love of his life while disc golfing, Aimee Cushing-Leubner. Joe and Aimee were married in Marshfield, WI, June 22, 2013 and shared 9 years of marriage together. Currently, Joe was employed as a Robotics Engineer at Wisconsin Automation, a job he took great pride in. In addition to his career and schooling, he was an entrepreneur and creator of his business, MSH Industries, which allowed him to follow his dream of creating from inception to finished product.
Joe was an avid outdoorsman and especially loved camping and cooking over the open fire. You could always find Joe tinkering on his latest project. He was a self-proclaimed "Joe of All Trades" and was a maker of all things, including blacksmithing and following in his father's footsteps, machining. His mother gave him the gift of storytelling, and a flair for gift-giving. One of his favorite quotes was "Shop Local."Joe also had a great love of all things natural and from nature, which inspired his work. The passion he had for life and learning touched the lives of those with whom he came into contact. His greatest joy was being a devoted husband to Aimee and dad to his beloved children. His legacy will live on through Juniper, 7, Korban, 5 and "The Mighty" Leonidas, 8 months.
Joseph is survived by his wife, Aimee; 3 children: Juniper, Korban and Leonidas; his father, Ranny Rasmussen; maternal grandmother, Grace Skaletski and 6 siblings: Helen (Matt) Wickman and their children, Grace and Kaitlyn, Theresa (Jeff) Holl and their children: Braden, Annalyse and Beckett, Catherine (Dean) Urbanek, Sarah (Mike) Ignarski, Charles (Ashley Kerr) Rasmussen and Christina Fangman and her children, Levi and Kilian. He is further survived by numerous other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Jennifer Rasmussen, maternal grandfather, Dalen Skaletski and paternal grandparents, Neils "Ray" and Anne Rasmussen.
Visitation will be held at Newcomer-Green Bay Chapel (340 S. Monroe Ave., Green Bay, WI), Friday, December 2, 2022 from 3 to 7 PM. Please wear your favorite flannel or his favorite color-GREEN! A prayer service will conclude the visiting hours at the funeral home at 7 PM. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 AM with Fr. Walter Stumpf, celebrant. Burial will be in St. Patrick Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials directed to Joe's family to be used for his children's educations are appreciated.
