John "Jack" Roffers Sr., 83, of De Pere, beloved husband of 63 years to Anna (Ver Haagh) Roffers, entered into Eternal Rest on Tuesday, April 4, 2018. He passed very peacefully after going through a difficult time with dementia and heart failure.
Jack was born on December 30, 1934 in Green Bay, son of the late Herbert and Pearl (Devroy) Roffers. As a boy he lived in Sturgeon Bay and never outgrew his love for that city. Also in his younger years he worked on his Grandpa's farm, and enjoyed airplanes and the many flights a friend took him on. He served honorably in the United States Marine Corps Reserves. At 16 he met the love of his life Anna, they were married on July 10, 1954, they spent 63 years of marriage together. Living in Ashwaubenon they started their family which included 7 children. His career spanned 31 years in truck driving working for Green Bay Chicago Lines, and later retired from Consolidated Freight Ways. In his retirement he worked at Heyerman Construction which he greatly enjoyed. Jack was very mechanically inclined and could fix most anything. He built a family cabin in Lakewood and enjoyed spending time with his family there. Jack also enjoyed snowmobiling, bowling and golfing.
He is survived by his wife Anna and six children: Diane (Wayne) Lowery, Lynn (Glenn) Gerondale, Debra (Dennis) Capelle, Kevin Roffers, John Roffers, and Jill (Paul) Johnson. Jack also leaves two sisters: Janice (Lovell) Ives and Shirley (Ted) Woloszyk, along with eight grandchildren: Renee, Matthew, David, Sara, Darren, Ryan, Tyler, and Charles, and five great grandchildren: Kyle, Logan, Ethan, Jillian, and Ava. Jack also leaves numerous, brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. He is preceded in death by a son, Dennis Roffers.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 11th from 10 AM - 12 PM at Nativity of Our Lord Parish, 2270 S. Oneida Street, Green Bay. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 12 PM. Entombment will be in Fort Howard Mausoleum at a later date. Newcomer - Green Bay Chapel has been entrusted with arrangements. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed to Unity Hospice.
Jack's family would like to extend a special thanks to Unity Hospice. Their gentle care, concern, and compassion helped the family through this difficult time. We will never forget them and their kindness, especially, Karen, Ashley, Brenda, Bonnie, and Hailey. God bless them all, they are truly Angels.
