John "Jack" VandenAvond, 57, Green Bay, passed away Monday, March 4, 2013. He was born January 11, 1956 in Green Bay to Don and Mary Lu (Beno) VandenAvond. Jack graduated from Preble High School with the class of 1974. He spent his entire career with Steve Larscheid Trucking. Jack was a member of the Team Whine Car Club, where he enjoyed showing his 1990 Formula Firebird. He also enjoyed fishing and was known for nicknaming family members.
Survivors include his children, Brad and Jackie VandenAvond and their mother, Christine Marbes; parents, Don and Mary Lu; brothers and sisters: Terry (Chuck) Vandenlangenberg, Jean (Jim) Collins, Vickie (Terry) Rentmeester, Carol (Dave) DeGrave, Sue (Jeff) Stone, Scott (Heidi), Mark (Becky), Don (Debbie), Dan (Jaci), and Richard (Melanie) VandenAvond, Jennifer (Randy) VanLanen, Janelle (Tom) Prosser, and Ellen (friend, Dave Osborne) VandenAvond; and many nieces and nephews.
Jack was preceded in death by an infant niece, Gina Rentmeester.
Family and friends may call Friday, March 8, 2013, at Prince of Peace Parish, 3425 Willow Rd., Green Bay, from 9:00am until 11:00am. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at the church on Friday at 11:00am with Rev. Dan Viertel officiating.
In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established.
