John H Lamers, 70, of Little Suamico passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 13, 2015 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born Oct 28, 1944 to the late John & Helen (VandenHuevel) Lamers.
In his younger years, John was a member of the United States Army Reserves. He grew up in the Greenleaf area where he was a volunteer on the Greenleaf Fire Department. John had a talent for cooking and loved to have his family and friends come relish a bowl of his chicken booyah. He also served booyah at the Greenleaf Fireman's Picnic for a number of years. John enjoyed watching Packer games, playing sheepshead, and having breakfast with his family at Barley's Deerfield Diner.
John is survived by his Very Special Friend, Marge Gorring; his children: Colleen (Jeff Vande Hey) Theunis, Jeff (Anne) Lamers, Craig (Colleen) Lamers, Brian Lamers; Grandchildren: B.J. & Kristy (Matt Shimon) Theunis, Kaylin, Grant, Hailey & Gavin Lamers; Great-Grandchildren: Aiden Arvey, Wyatt Shimon; Marge's children: Tim (Jane) Wertelusky, Kelly (friend Jim) Thoe; and Marge's Grandchildren: Morgan Wertelusky & Lydia Thoe.
He is further survived by brothers and sisters: Mary Ada (Elton 'Pete') Petersen, Carol Gossen, Maurice (Dallas) Lamers, Denis (Connie) Lamers, Ione Gerrits; Sister-in Law: Carol Lamers; Mother of his children: Judy Lamers; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Preceding John in death were his twin brother Jim Lamers, Brothers-in-law: Orville Gossen, Bud Gerrits; Grandparents: John & Maria Lamers; and furry friend Buddy.
Memorial visitation will be held at the NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, (340 S. Monroe Avenue, Green Bay) on Monday, September 21, 2015 from 3 to 6:00 PM. A funeral service will be held at 6 PM. Burial will be in St. Paul's Catholic Cemetery in Wrightstown.
