John D. Nowak, age 90, of Green Bay, passed away Tuesday, May 3, 2016 with his family at his side. He was born December 6, 1925 in Milwaukee, WI, son of the late John and Stella Nowak.
John enlisted in the US Army and served his country from the end of WWII through the Korean War. He was a life member of the VFW. John married Delores Irene Bosacki in February of 1952 and together they shared 59 1/2 loving years of marriage before she passed away in 2011. He was a life-long member of St. Jude Parish.
John's family remembers him as a hard worker and provider for his family. He farmed and drove truck, retiring from Schneider after 43 years of service. John had a passion for gardening, riding motorcycles, polka music and spending time with his beloved family. John was not afraid to speak his mind and tell you what he was thinking. His sharp wit and sense of humor will be dearly missed.
John is survived by his 4 sons: Gary (Mary), John M., Joey L. and Rusty J. Nowak; 2 granddaughters, Lori Nowak and Jennifer (Joel) Velasco; grandson, Johnathan R. Nowak; 3 great-grandsons: Cody L. Nolan, Harrison and Walter Velasco; a great-great-granddaughter, Brooklyn Nolan; 4 sisters: Esther Zarnoth, Ann Bitters, Betty Hieling and Virginia LeMere; brother, Anthony Nowak; special canine "daughter", Lola and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; sister, Irene Butka and 3 brothers: Irvin, Leonard and Edward Nowak.
Visitation will be held at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, (340 S. Monroe Avenue, Green Bay), Friday, May 6, 2016 from 10 to 11:45 AM. A funeral service will follow at 12 NOON with full military honors to follow. Interment will be in Fort Howard Memorial Park.
