Joan N. Wilson (Kroeger) of Bear Creek, Wisconsin passed on to her heavenly home Monday November 8, 2021. She was born February 28, 1942, on a rural farm at Camp Douglas, Wisconsin – "over the fence from Volk field" as she would say. She was the ninth of ten children. Her parents were Joseph A. Kroeger and Dora D. Miller (Brooks).
She was married to the love of her life, Houston "Sarge" Wilson, for 52 years. She was very patriotic and proudly served as a military wife and mother. She enjoyed seeing the world with Houston and her two children.
She and her husband moved to the Bear Creek area after his retirement. They opened "Jo & Sarge's" tavern at Bear Creek corners. She enjoyed cooking for the locals, farmers, hunters, and travelers over the years. She was fast on her feet, cooking and hosting community group gatherings for holidays and meetings. Years later she opened "Jo's Sky Club" in Clintonville. She made each place one that you could bring your family. Many regulars became, and remain, good friends and family. She loved to go to morning coffee to start out the day getting the latest news & enjoy some laughs.
Joan enjoyed helping others. She worked with her mother, caring for the elderly in Juneau, Wis. She managed the elderly housing dwelling in Bear Creek many years. She looked forward to Christmas each year working with the Goodfellows Group for nearly forty years. She gave to anyone in need. She always had plenty of food, bedding, pots & pans, and other necessities, for people less fortunate or who had fallen on tough times. Joan worked around her own personal health limitations for years. She cared for Houston throughout his battle with ALS until the end. Her husband and children were the main focus of her life – always caring for them in every way she could.
She joyfully goes on to a new beginning. She was never afraid to die for He is waiting for her in the sky.
