Joan "Joanne" Marie (Van Drisse) Lynn, 82, passed peacefully into eternal life at her Green Bay home on Friday, November 6th, 2015.
She was born on January 13th, 1933 to Edward and Phoebe Van Drisse in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
Joanne was a 1951 graduate of St. Joseph Academy, Green Bay. She received her Bachelor's Degree at Rosary College in River Forest, Illinois, a member of Delta Sig sorority. Continuing her education, she chose to study at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN for her advanced degree in Dietetics. It was during her training at Mayo that she met her husband, Thomas Lynn, MD.
Joanne was active in a variety of organizations in Green Bay. She was a charter member of Resurrection Parish, an associate member of Green Bay Service League and a past member of the Medical Auxiliary of Green Bay.
In addition to family, Joanne was blessed with many dear friends. She was part of a "luncheon club", a group of high school friends who remained close and had been getting together since 1963, raising families, celebrating each other's joys and giving support in times of sadness. Joanne also enjoyed her birthday group. She and several other women would gather to celebrate each other's birthdays since becoming neighbors and friends in 1958. She stayed in touch with friends from her Mayo Clinic dietitian internship through a round robin letter that has been circulating continuously since 1960. The group gathered for their 50th reunion in Rochester and had traveled to see one another several times since. She was an active member in the River Pines bridge club, and was deeply appreciative for all the loving kindness she felt from her friends and neighbors in the River Pines community.
In addition to her many social and community activities, Joanne's greatest joy was spending time with family. She was a devoted mother and took an active role in her grandchildren's lives.
Loving mother to her six children, Thomas (Bethany) Lynn, Diane Lynn; Mary (Michael) Dorsch; Robert (Gwen) Lynn, Julie (Ken) Ellerth, Catherine (Thomas) Leggett. "Grandma Joanne" will be dearly missed by her sixteen grandchildren. She also leaves one brother, Roger (Marge) Van Drisse; one sister, Carol (the late Tom) Burgess and her dear cousin and frequent companion Marianne Van Drisse. She is further survived by many nieces and nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Thomas Lynn, her parents, and two sisters, Sandra Sinclair and Marilyn Brunette.
