Joan Elizabeth (Mahon) Gigot, 93, Green Bay, passed away on Sunday, July 6, 2014. She was born December 30, 1920, in Merrill, WI, to the late Edward and Florence (Kingsley) Mahon.
Joan graduated from Merrill High School and also from the University of Wisconsin with a Bachelor's degree in Library Science. She worked at the Milwaukee Public Library. Joan married the love of her life Bernard Gigot on October 12, 1944.
Joan was a charitable volunteer at St. Matthew School & Library and the Brown County Library. She was an associate member of the Service League of Green Bay.
Survivors include her loving husband of 69 years, Bernie; 4 children, Richard (Jude) Gigot, Virginia (Mike) Reitzner, Gary Gigot (special friend, Tammy Jenkins), and Sara Joyce (special friend, Gary Garcia); 8 grandchildren, Nicole (Craig) Schneider, Jason Gigot, Tyler Reitzner, Jessica (Dean) Luce, Emily Gigot, Erin (Matt) Koeck and Kyle (fiancé, Melissa Hilger) Joyce; great-grand-children, Matthew and Jakob Schneider, Logan Reitzner, Maxwell Gigot, Emmett Koeck, and David Hudson Joyce.
Joan was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Richard; an infant brother; and son-in-law, David Joyce.
Family and friends may call Friday, July 11, 2014, at St. Matthew Catholic Church, 130 St. Matthew St., Green Bay, from 9:30am until 10:45am. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00am on Friday at the church with Rev. Philip Dinh-Van-Thiep officiating. Burial will be at All Saints Catholic Cemetery, Denmark.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the St. Matthew School Library.
