Jerome G. Ortlieb

Jerome George Ortlieb age 100 of Coleman, WI. Passed away Wednesday January 5, 2023. He was born on October 27, 1922 to the late Philip and Margaret(Schaumbrock) Ortlieb. He was raised in Chilton, WI and attended St. Mary's Catholic School where he was an alter boy and sang in the choir at the church. He graduated from Chilton High School and then went on to Marinette for welding school. With the skills he learned, Jerome got a job in Milwaukee at Allis Chalmers Machine and there he met the love of his life Altha Kaster.

Jerry was drafted into the Navy as a third class Aviation Metal-Smith and stationed in Texas. Altha chose to follow him there. They were married on February 5, 1944 in Corpus Christi, Tx.
Once WW II came to an end Altha and Jerry moved back to Wisconsin. They settled in Green Bay where they shared 78 loving years of marriage and were blessed with 3 children.

Jerry and Altha took pride in building 5 different homes that they lived in as a family. He had several jobs over the years including running a gas station, working for Martin Hardware as a repair man. Eventually Jerry at Sears as a service technician. Jerry officially retired at the age of 55 and moved to Crivitz, WI where he and his wife enjoyed up north living. They were able to travel as well, following their sons where they were stationed in the service. These places included California, Alaska, Missouri, Virginia, South Dakota, North Dakota, Wyoming, England, and Germany. They were also snowbirds and spent winters in Florida for many years. Jerry was a devoted husband, loving father and proud grandfather/great grandfather.

Jerry was survived by 2 children: James (Dee) Ortlieb, Judith (Dennis) Laurent, and Daughter-in-Law Patti Ortlieb. Jerry also leaves his 12 grandchildren, Jeanine (Junior) Dolphus, Sherry (Troy) Jones, Eric (Rachel) Ortlieb, Leslie (Dave) Collard, Crystal (RJ) Maloney, Zack (Alicia) Sanftner, Kelly (Chad) Butler, Lisa (Joe) Bartels, Crystal (Peter) Clark, Coty (Kyle) Johnson, Logan (Xiomara) Ortlieb, and Logan Sanftner. Along with 19 great grandchildren. He is further survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Jeanette (Ervin) Goetsch. Wife Altha and son Kurt Ortlieb.

There will be no funeral or visitation held per his wishes. If you wish you can leave online condolences.
