Jay J. Habeck, 59, of Green Bay, passed away unexpectedly on April 23, 2024 at his home.
He was born on August 28, 1964 to James and Gladys (VanIten) Habeck in Green Bay. After he graduated from East High School, he joined the United States Army. He served in the Army for four years before returning home. He spent his working career in the tire business and was employed at Pomp's Tire at the time of his passing.
On June 8, 2003 he married the love of his life, Dawn M. Zeleznik, in Las Vegas. They spent 18 beautiful years together before her passing in 2021.
He enjoyed going with his brothers and participated in helping them with H & H Racing when they raced their Wisconsin sport trucks. In the past few years, Jay and his brothers loved spending time at Deer Creek Speedway in Spring Valley, MN for dirt track racing. He spent countless years supporting the local rugby club, GBRFC, where he was known as "Papa Pudge". They were a big part of his life and they will deeply miss him.
He would go to the bar where he played darts and pool with his friends. He was a die hard Green Bay Packers fan and never would miss a game. Jay also enjoyed golf outings and supporting his friend Kim's taverns. He liked doing a lot of things, but coaching softball for his stepdaughters was by far his least favorite thing to do.
Jay is survived by his siblings: Mary, Gail, Blaine, Sarah and Keith; nieces and nephews: Jessica, Rachel, Shanie, Cory, Drew, Nick, Destinee, Haley, Mike and Adam; and stepchildren: Chris "Pudgie", Rebecca, Kasey and Alyssa. He is further survived by grandchildren, further relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dawn; his parents; and his brothers, Alan and Paul.
