Janice K. "Jan" Doney

April 24, 1935 — March 23, 2024

Saturday, March 23 was a beautiful spring day. Skies were blue, the sun was shining and birds were singing their praises when Janice "Jan" Doney, 88, of Oconto Falls, was called home, passing unexpectedly at her home, following a battle with cancer.

Jan is survived by her children that loved her the most: Brad, Alane (fiance, David Coopman) and Crystal, all of Oconto Falls. Her grandchildren, Anna Roberts and Samantha (John Lonzo) Doney. Also survived by a very special granddog, Stewart, who she loved dearly, "special son", Steve Witt and former son-in-law, Mike Roberts. Further survived by nieces, nephews and friends.

Preceding her in death were her loving husband of 61 years, Babe, parents, Norman and Pearl Rice, brother, Lowell (Delores) Rice, sister, Donna VandenBush and infant brother, Neil Rice, in-laws, Ralph and Ruth Doney, brother-in-law, Bernard Doney.

Born April 24, 1935 in Oconto Falls to parents, Norman and Pearl, Jan had a carefree and loving childhood. She attended schools in Oconto Falls, graduating with the class of 1954. While working at the Snack Shack, she met the love of her life, Babe Doney, and they married, September 22, 1954 and started their family. Raising her family came first, but later in life she became a waitress at Lakeside Inn Supper Club at Anderson Lake. She enjoyed meeting new people and spending time with Babe who also worked there.

Jan was a very devoted mother, always taking care of others first. She will be remembered for her delicious holiday meals and family get togethers, also for baking her apple pies and mincemeat cookies that she made with love. Always telling family, "Go eat" and then, "Did you get enough to eat? Eat more!" or the phone call "What are you making for supper tonight?"

Jan loved canning, her flower and vegetable garden and finding joy in the beauty of nature while sitting quietly at the patio table. She also had a love for all creatures, big and small, except mice. She loved her beloved poodles throughout the years: Snowflake, Muffin and Belle.

She will be missed most by her family, but also by anyone's life she touched.

The family would like to thank Bellin Oncology, Jani Cook NP, Bellin Home Health, especially Ellen, for the love and care shown to their mother. And most recently, Unity Hospice for the care and support given to Jan and her family, allowing her to live at home until her passing.

Per Jan's wishes, there will be no service. A private service for family and graveside service will be held at a later date.
