Janet Ellen Louise Turrittin, age 81, of Green Bay, passed away peacefully, Friday, December 6, 2019. She was born March 11, 1938 in Milwaukee, WI, daughter of the late Norman and Jeannette (Wedemeyer) Speerbrecher.
Jan was a graduate of Brown Deer High School. She married Gordon Turrittin, May 4, 1958 in Brown Deer and were blessed with 3 children. Gordon passed away in 1987. Later in her life, Jan was united with her soul mate, David Kurowski for over 30 years. David passed away in 2015.
Jan's family shared a cottage in Eagle River on Cranberry Lake where good times were had by all for many years. Spending time with her family was Jan's greatest joy. She also enjoyed traveling, fishing and riding motorcycles. Jan was an adventurous woman who loved to take charge and do things herself. She was strong willed and had an incredible sense of humor. Jan had a kind and generous heart and would go out of her way to help anyone in need.
Janet is survived by her 3 children: Douglas (Cindy) Turrittin, Mark (Lisa) Turrittin and Cheri (Tim) Johnston; 6 grandchildren: Bobbie (Tom) Wilkins, Brenda Bartelt, Brad (Katie) Turrittin, Jeremy (Tasha) Turrittin, Michael (Amy) Turrittin and Joseph Johnston; 11 great-grandchildren and her brother, Norman (Linda) Speerbrecher. She is further survived by her best friend, Diane Basten, a sister-in-law, Beverly Speerbrecher, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Joanne Speerbrecher and a brother, Robert Speerbrecher.
A gathering and celebration of Jan's life will be held at Newcomer-Green Bay Chapel (340 S. Monroe Ave., Green Bay), Saturday, December 14, 2019 from 10 AM to 12 PM.
