Janet D. Bilty

March 16, 1933 — February 9, 2021

Janet Dorothy Bilty, age 87, of Green Bay, WI passed away Tuesday, February 9, 2021. She was born March 16, 1933 to the late Richard and Dorothy (Allen) Wedgwood.

Janet enjoyed growing up on her grandparents farm in Little Suamico, WI surrounded by her many cousins. Janet was a graduate of West High School, Green Bay, WI in 1951. She earned a Bachelor's Degree in 1955 from the School of Education at UW-Milwaukee. Janet married Paul A. Bilty, on June 18, 1956 and they shared 62 years of marriage before he passed away, December 30, 2018.

Janet began her teaching career in the Milwaukee school system and then moved to Green Bay, WI where she taught for over 30 years at Baird Elementary School. She truly enjoyed the children, parents and staff there, making many lifelong friends. She also taught English as a second language to Spanish students when she retired.

Janet was a long time active member of Union Congregational United Church of Christ and served on various committees. She was a long time member and past Queen of Daughter's of the Nile - Green Bay, which benefits Shriners Hospitals for Children. She was also involved in Service League for many years.

Janet loved to dance and was a member of Dance Club. She enjoyed all types of dances, but especially the jitterbug. Janet was in a book club and loved reading, especially anything about the Packers in the newspaper. She was a die-hard Packer fan, season ticket holder, and never missed a game. She loved gardening and had a vegetable garden as well as many beautiful flower gardens at her home. She could play bridge 24/7 and at one time was playing cards in three different groups with friends and neighbors. She enjoyed golfing at Crystal Springs Golf Course in Seymour and even got a hole-in-one. Janet loved to travel the 50 states and Europe. Florida in winter was a given. She was an animal lover and had a cat by her side her whole life.

Janet adored her grandchildren and cherished every moment she spent with them. When they would visit, they enjoyed holiday baking, going to the New Zoo, Bay Beach, or The Wild Life Sanctuary. She loved attending their sporting events and was the best grandmother a child could ask for.

Janet is survived by her three children: Kay Stinson of Green Bay, WI, Paul W. (Sheila) Bilty of Denmark, WI and Ann (John) Hackinson of Anna Maria, FL. She is further survived by 5 grandchildren: Katherine (Andrew) Bartlein, Vincent Bilty, Shelby Stinson, Jennifer (Jeremy) Schwebs and Maxwell Hackinson. Her devotion to family and her never-ending kindness and generosity will be missed.
