Jane Frances Kroening (nee Konowalski) passed away on December 20, 2021. She was born in Green Bay, WI on Feb 28th, 1936, to Sylvester and Rosemary Konowalski. She graduated from Green Bay East High School and worked in her parent's grocery store. After high school she married Norman Kroening. They had three children: Lisa Schnell (Larry), Eileen Eckardt (Allan), and David Kroening (Christine). They later divorced. She worked at a variety of jobs during her lifetime including working in her parent's store, the phone company, as a dental secretary, ticket sales at the Carleton Dinner Theatre, and at the Oneida Casino.
She was preceded in death by her father, mother, four sisters and one brother. She is survived by her brother, Jack Konowalski, sister Cathy Geimer (Bob), and sister-in-law Patti Konowalski.
She was Grandma Jane to grandchildren: Bianca Kroening, Gianna Kroening, Alanna Kroening, Ronald Kroening, Kelly (Melissa) Goetsch, Adam Goetsch (Karissa Hribko), Andrew Kroening, Justin Eckardt, Peter Goetsch, Jared Eckardt, Aaron Eckardt, and great-grandchildren: Audrey, Caroline, and Mina Goetsch.
Although she lived the last years of her life in Wausau to be closer to Eileen, her heart was always in Green Bay (the "old Green Bay" as she would say).
She will be missed by her family, and many friends she made throughout her life. She was truly one of a kind and was dearly loved.
Rest in peace Mom.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 22, 2022, at Newcomer Green Bay Chapel (340 S. Monroe Ave. Green Bay, WI) from 10 am to 12 pm. A memorial service will follow at 12 pm. Jane will be laid to rest at Allouez Catholic Cemetery & Mausoleum at a future time.
A note from the family: we are planning the gathering to be as safe as possible. We know that our mother would not want any of her friends or family to become ill with COVID-19. Please wear a well-fitting surgical or higher-level mask and practice social distancing so we can be safer together.
