Jane Gibbons

Janet "Jane " Gibbons, age 92, passed away peacefully, Friday, January 22, 2021 in Green Bay, WI. She was born August 5, 1928 in Appleton, WI, daughter of the late John and Josephine (Gruelich) Riedl.
Jane was raised in Appleton and graduated from Appleton High School in 1946. She attended UW-Milwaukee and upon graduating with honors in 1950, she taught Latin and English at high schools in South Milwaukee, Green Bay and Appleton. She married John Gibbons, June 29, 1957 in Appleton. They shared 63 loving years of marriage before John preceded her in death, January 6, 2021. They moved to Green Bay in 1959 and have lived there ever since.She was a teacher's aide at Morgan L. Martin School in Green Bay for 4 years. Later, Jane worked at Bank One, downtown Green Bay, for 18 years, retiring in 1998.
Jane was a member of St. Willebrord Parish, Green Bay and active in the YMCA Older Adults swimming group. She also enjoyed her grandchildren, gardening, vacation trips to many destinations with her husband and family, and a multitude of volunteer service work. Jane was a loving caregiver to her husband for many years when his health began to fail. She will be remembered for her great kindness and helpfulness to all.
Jane is survived by her daughter, Kathleen (David) Berg, 2 sons, John T. (Peggy) and James (Julie) Gibbons; grandchildren: Leah (Jason) Kaltenberg, Erin (Dan) Gruenewald, Christopher Gibbons and Stephanie (Barry Ohlsson) Gibbons and Jayme Valentine; great-grandchildren: Brianna, Emma, Jaxon and Logan Kaltenberg, Grace Gruenewald, Landon and Penelope Ohlsson and Teagan Crummy.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Joanne (John) Nichols and a brother, John "Jack" (Ruth) Riedl.
Private services were held for Jane and her husband, John. Entombment will be in Allouez Catholic Mausoleum.
