Jan Motiff

July 21, 1936 — January 8, 2022

Jan Motiff, 85 entered into eternal peace on Jan 8, 2022 after a 3 year battle with Alzheimer's Disease, while surrounded by the love of his family at his side. He was born July 21, 1936 to the late George J. Motiff, Sr. and Estelle (Landry) Motiff.

Jan graduated from West High School in 1955 and then from St. Norbert College in 1959 with a Bachelor degree in Accounting. He attended college on a ROTC scholarship and eventually was honorably discharged from the USAR Reserve Quartermaster Corps as a Captain in November of 1966.

Jan was married to Janice (Junio) Motiff on June 20, 1959 at St. Francis Xavier Cathedral, Green Bay. They were married for a happy 49 years when Janice died in July of 2008. They are both survived by their 3 daughters and sons-in-law: Tricia Motiff Stearns (Dan Stearns) Beloit WI, Tami Motif Walz (Jason Walz) Cave Junction, OR and Tracy Motiff Muesbeck (Randy Muesbeck) Menasha, WI and one granddaughter, Sage Estelle Muesbeck.

Jan had a fulfilling career as an accountant at Badger Northland in Kaukauna, WBAY TV 2 in Green Bay, finally ending his career as a Controller for Northern Engraving and Machine in Green Bay after many years there. He retired in 1999.

Jan was a member of St. Matthew Church in Green Bay, where he volunteered as an usher. He was a communion distributor at St. Vincent Hospital, and an associate with the Norbertines where served mass. He was a member of the Green Bay men's club. Jan was an avid card player, loved crossword puzzles and cherished the time spent with his family.

Jan is preceded in death by his Mother and Father; older brother, George J. Motiff, Jr.; his younger sister, Antoinette "Toni" Motiff Vannes; brother-in-law, Clayton Lee Vannes; his Mother and Father-in-law, John (Verna DeGrave) Junio and step father-in-law, Gordon DeGrave. He is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Jack (Barbara) Junio and sister-in-law, Mary Motiff, and many nieces and nephews.

Gathering time with family and friends will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home, 340 South Monroe Ave., Thursday January 13, 2022, from 5 to 7 pm and will be followed by a Vigil Service with Pastoral Associate Ann Froelich. Visitation will continue on Friday, January 14, 2022 at St. Matthew Catholic Church, 130 St. Matthew St. from 10 am until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am with Father Bob Kabat officiating.
