James D. Williquette, age 84, passed away at his home in Green Bay after a short illness, on March 12, 2018. He was born on December 3, 1933, in Green Bay, WI, to Ione & Francis Williquette.
Jim attended grade school at St. Philip the Apostle and Central Catholic High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Army to serve his country. He was inducted into the St. Norbert College Intercollegiate Athletic Hall of Fame in 2002 for football.
He was married to Iris on November 25, 1992 and resided in Eagle River, WI.
Before retiring in 1992, he worked for the City of Eagle River Police Department and in 1978, became Sheriff of Vilas County for 14 years.
Jim's passion for gardening was evident from the starting of the seeds to the canning of the harvest. He enjoyed raising chickens, feeding wildlife, fishing and hunting.
Jim is survived by his wife of 25 years, Iris; brother Lawrence Williquette of Dyckesville; daughter, Julie Oberg (Mark) of Eagle River; son, Jeffrey (Melinda) of Eagle River; grandchildren, great-grandchild, nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, Darrell.
Visitation will be held from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm on Friday, March 16, 2018, at St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church, 312 Victoria Street, Green Bay. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2:00 pm on Friday with Military Honors to follow. Burial will be at Cemetery of the Holy Sepulchre of St. John the Baptist.
