James Robert Slattery 73, of De Pere, passed away unexpectedly on April 6, 2022.
James was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on November 27, 1948 to Robert and Esther Slattery.
On July 19,1991 James married the love of his life, Valerie. They enjoyed many years together, living in De Pere and always enjoyed their trips to Las Vegas. They loved watching sports together and were big fans of the Green Bay Packers, Milwaukee Brewers and Bucks and also loved going out to play on dart league.
Jim served aboard the USS Sturgeon in the United States Navy for a number of years, specializing in "teletype". He spent his entire career working for the FAA as an air traffic control specialist.
When Jim finally retired he enjoyed spending time visiting with his buddies at Sidekicks, watching Westerns on TV, and doing crossword puzzles. Jim loved trivia and almost always got the answers right when watching Jeopardy, he even qualified as a finalist on "Who Wants to be a Millionaire".
Jim was so proud of his Irish heritage, he celebrated St. Patrick's day every year by wearing green, beads, flashing buttons, and indulging in his Jameson Irish Whiskey. He was very musically inclined he enjoyed playing his guitar and his electric keyboard. He loved listening to the Beatles and watching films about them, Jim was a huge fan and they were his favorite. James was well known for his jokes, the good, the bad and the ugly! He was truly the life of the party.
Jim is survived by his wife Val, his children Kathy (Steve) Moschkau and Shawn (Cherie) Slattery, step children Jerry (Shelly) VerBruggen, Katheryn Resch, his sister Pat (Tom) Horaitis, grandchildren Estella and Drake Moschkau, Marissa and Michael (Rei) Slattery, Andrea (Scott) Guns, Kody (Nicole) Peterson, Sara (Tyler) VerBruggen, Jon VerBruggen and Danielle (Nick) Rouse, great grandchildren Sage and Owen Slattery, Hendrix, Berkley and Rhyatt Guns, Kyrah and Rylee Peterson, Reilly, Ryver and Rowyn VerBruggen, Braden and Jon Jr. VerBruggen, Maverick Haas, his dog DJango, and many other friends and relatives.
He was preceded in death his parents and his step son Jimmy VerBruggen.
A visitation for James will be held on April 12, 2022 at 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm with a prayer service to follow at 5:00 which will be officated by Father Willy Vandeloo.
