James Patrick Kindlin

March 27, 1943 — April 17, 2014

James Patrick Kindlin, 71, of Green Bay, passed away on Thursday, April 17, 2014, after a long illness. Pat was born in Grand Rapids, MI, on March 27, 1943. The family moved to Green Bay in 1947 where Pat spent the rest of his life. A graduate of St. Mary of the Angels Grade School and Premontre High, Pat attended UWGB and was employed by the Larsen Canning Company and The Green Bay Parks and Recreation Department. He was a devout Catholic and life-long member of St. Mary of the Angels Parish. An avid tennis player, Pat was active on the area tennis scene throughout much of his life.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Melvin and Lucille (LaVasseur) Kindlin, a number of other family members, and dear friend, Urban Schumacher. Pat is survived by a brother and sister-in-law, Michael and Faith Kindlin, of Kennesaw, GA; cousin, Gloria Millerschin of Port Austin, MI; nieces, Amy (Brent) Price and Emily Kindlin; and great-nephew, Ryder Price all of Smyrna, GA.

Pat is also survived by what he called his extended, non-biological, local family which includes, but is not limited to: Mrs. Judy Schumacher and the John & Kathy, Joe & Donna, and Jim & Lori Schumacher families; the Rotherham family, the Tedtman family, the Neuville family, the Dan & MaryAnn Froelich family, the Verboncoer family, the Umentum family, the Zakowski family, the Tom Vandenberg family, Peggy Konop, Peggy Kirschling, Ed Stenger, Father Patrick Gaw, Father Roland Depeaux, Don & Jane Rondou, Dr. Henry & Mrs. Mary Rahr, Richard & Olive Conley, Mrs. Terry Byrne, Don & Gwen LaFortune, Arland & Marion Klimek, Jim Robb, Dr. Pierre Slightam, Mary LaRoche, Dan & Joanne Dubois, Mrs. Lori Crispigna, Barb Zeller, Sister Janelle Aththrop, Carol Schibley, Lucia Genisse, Loraine Clancy, Ethel Ryan, Mrs. Nancy Trainor, Vicky Fabry, Terry & Teresa Doxtater, Jan Abrams, and Virginia Van Lanen.

Family and friends may call Tuesday, April 22, 2014, at Newcomer Funeral Home, 340 S. Monroe Ave., Green Bay, from 5:30pm until 7:00pm with a parish prayer service at 7:00pm. Visitation will continue on Wednesday at St. Mary of the Angels Catholic Church, 645 S. Irwin St., Green Bay, from 10:00am until 11:00am. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the church on Wednesday at 11:00am with Rev. Patrick Gawrylewski officiating. Burial will be at Allouez Catholic Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Mary of the Angels Catholic Church in Pat's name.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Emily Winslow and the staff at UW Health Surgical Oncology at Madison and Dr. Matthew Ryan and the staff at Green Bay Oncology for their kindness and care for James. Also a thank you to Unity Hospice and the staff at Odd Fellow Nursing Home for their care and concern for Pat in his final days.

Although Pat will be dearly missed by all his family and friends, we rejoice in his resting in the peace of God that passes all understanding and in his entering into the greater life to come.
