James G. Parish

James G. Parish, age 90, of Green Bay, was born to Eternal life on Tuesday, September 26, 2017, surrounded by his family at home on Park Street.

He was born on June 12, 1927, in Green Bay, to the late Fred & Pearl (Munster) Parish.

Jim was a graduate of Green Bay West High School in 1945.

He served his country in the U. S. Navy from 1945-1946 during World War II as a pharmacist's mate third class. He was stationed in Great Lakes, IL, San Diego, CA, Hawaii and New Orleans, LA.

Jim married Violet Meisel on October 5, 1947, and together they raised two children. She preceded him in death on February 23, 2015.

He worked for Chicago & Northwestern Railroad as a Brakeman. Later he was an insurance agent with State Farm Insurance for 42 years in Green Bay. He retired in 1995. He was a member of the Washington Masonic Lodge.

Jim enjoyed duck hunting, deer hunting, golf, the Packers, the Brewers, and eating at the Redwood Inn. His greatest love was his family and his grandkids. Jim met once a month with his West High School classmates for many years. He and his wife Violet were avid Civil War enthusiasts, traveling to many Civil War battlefields over the years.

Survivors include his children, Jim (Jill) Parish and Tracy (John) Smits; grandchildren, Jeremy, Johnny and Robby; sisters-in-law, Viola Parish of Sun City West, AZ, Virginia Markham of Phoenix, AZ and Ione Meisel of New York City; nieces, Patsy and Paula; nephews, Jeff, Dennis, Jack and Gary; and other relatives and friends.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Violet; brother Gerald Parish and sister-in-law Maybelle "Pinky" Parish.

Visitation will be held from 4:30 pm until 7:00 pm on Monday, October 2, 2017, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, 340 S. Monroe Ave., Green Bay. A funeral service will be held at 7:00 pm. Burial will be at Nicolet Memorial Gardens.

The family sends special thanks to Sarah for her exceptional care of Jim while he was at home. Also, Brenda, Angela, and Lissa in his final days. The family also wishes to thank Woodside Rehab Center and Aurora Baycare Hospital.

Dad was a very thoughtful, caring and giving person. He took care of our mother for many years, and we will always be grateful. We know that he and Violet are together again. God bless you Mom & Dad.
