James Arthur Wery, 81, of Green Bay, passed away on October 23, 2024.
He was born on October 7, 1943, to Arthur and Cecelia (Eastman) Wery in Green Bay, WI.
James joined the Marine Corps on June 8, 1962, until his honorable discharge October 3, 1966. He received many medals, badges and citations including: Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Metal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Vietnamese Service Medal and Rifle Sharpshooters Badge. His health was greatly affected by his time at Camp LeJeune and by his time in the Jungles of Vietnam. On November 1, 2018, James got the change to go on an Honor Flight to Washington D.C. to see all the war memorials. A special thank you to his niece, Shelly Wery for helping organize that.
James worked at Green Bay and Western Railroad and then as a correctional officer for the state and federal prison systems. He ended his career as a truck driver.
On December 17, 1982, James married Julia Oestreich.
James is survived by his loving daughters: Lori (Kristy) Wery and Traci Morris; step-children: Craig (Val) Oestreich and Robert Oestreich; grandchildren: Brooke (Cameron) Lehrkind, Karlee Morris, Christopher Morris and Austin Oestreich; sister, Joan Renier; special niece, Lisa Renier; other nieces and nephews; and his two dogs, Sam and Max.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Julia; parents; brothers: Glen, Bobby, Roger and Gerald; sister, Shirley Mae; and his step-son, Chris Oestreich.
Per his wishes, no services will be held.
