James Edward Baker

October 3, 1945 — December 9, 2018

James Edward Baker began his life on October 3, 1945 in Green Bay; the favorite child of Edward and Florence Baker. He grew up in Pulaski and graduated from Pulaski High School in 1963. He was genuine and caring; with an incredible sense of humor. Jim treated others with kindness and respect; making sure they felt valued and loved.

Jim was appreciative of everything he had in life and he was generous in sharing that with those around him. He loved playing board games and cards with family and friends. Jim treasured time with his loved ones, whether it was family vacations, dinners, taking photos and videos, or telling stories with each other; he cherished every moment.

Jim began his career in the food business in 1971. His spirit of entrepreneurship motivated him to branch out on his own, and Baker Brokerage Company came to be in 1975. In the early years, he was known to take his son, James, to important business meetings because to him, business was an extension of his family. His experience, integrity, and loyalty were the key to his company's success.

Jim loved life, he loved his work, but God, family and friends were his priority. He was an amazing husband, totally in love (all that mushy stuff you hear about.... for him it was reality). Everyone who knew him, knew that he married his best friend. As a father, he raised his children with unconditional love and support. He encouraged them to pursue their own paths, no matter what they were, if it made them happy. He never missed an opportunity to tell them how proud he was of them. Jim was a wonderful son that his parents could be proud of raising. He was more than a brother to his siblings, he was also a friend. His grandchildren were his pride and joy that he thought of as his own treasures.

Jim will live on forever in the memories of his loving Wife, Suzanne; his Children, James (Asheley) Baker, Elizabeth (Aaron) Penzenstadler, Olivia (Alex) Tessmer, & Samantha (Josh) Calewarts; his beautiful Grandchildren, Addisen Baker, Brinley Baker, Jack Penzenstadler, Chayse Penzenstadler, Nicholas Tessmer, Baby Girl Tessmer due in January, and Grand dogs Arthur & Oscar; his Siblings, Janice (Gary) Grady, Bill (Toni) Baker, Judy (Gene) Grady, Mike (Barb) Baker, Tim (Pam) Baker, and many other beloved nieces, nephews, family and friends.

As we think about the loss of Dad, we reflect on his favorite bible story that he always told us, Luke 23:32-43 The Thief on the Cross. "Jesus answered him, Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in paradise." Dad always said, all you have to do is believe.

On Wednesday, December 19, 2018 we invite you to join us for an open-house celebration of Jim's life. It will be held from 4PM – 7PM at Newcomer, 340 S. Monroe Avenue, Green Bay WI.
