Honoria Huila

Honoria Huila, 102, of Green Bay, beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, entered into Eternal Rest on Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at St. Vincent Hospital surrounded by her loving family.

Honoria was born on January 30, 1914 in Popayán, Colombia, South America. She was a devout Catholic, staying active in the Church both in Colombia and in the United States. A woman of strong faith, Honoria always had a prayer on her tongue. She regularly attended mass at St. Agnes, Resurrection and St. Willebrord Parishes. She was also a prayerful supporter of the Order of the Norbertines.

She was a cherished and admired matriarch of her family and her humble and compassionate nature was to be respected and modeled. Honoria's family was most dear to her heart and she was a proud mother and "Abuelita." Honoria was a great lover of the arts, including music, poetry, dancing, and the theater. Her spirit and zest for life will be so dearly missed by the many people who's lives she touched. She lived up to her name as a woman of true honor.

Her memory will live on with her children: Abel (Kathleen) Huila, Araminta Rincón, Mariela Belalcazar, and Jairo (Amanda) Huilar. She also leaves a brother, Dr. Edgar Penagos-Casas. Honoria is further survived by her 9 beloved grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by late husband Victoriano Huila, son-in-law Marco A. Rincón, and Grandson Matthew Mueller.

Visitation will held at ST. WILLEBRORD PARISH (209 S. Adams St., Green Bay) on Saturday, January 14th from 9 to 11:45 AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12 NOON with Fr. Andy Cribben, O. Praem officiating. Interment will be in Allouez Catholic Cemetery.
