Henry Lee Clark

Henry Lee Clark ("Lee"), 79, died peacefully March 13, 2014, at home surrounded by family after a several month battle with cancer. Lee was born in Green Bay, WI on July 24, 1934 to the late Benjamin and Alice (Pierquet) Clark. Following graduation from Green Bay East High School in 1952, he was employed by the United States Geological Survey where he spent a year in Kissimmee, Florida. Lee then joined the United States Marine Corps and trained for boot camp with the recruits 4th Division at the San Diego Recruit Depot in 1953. He was then assigned to the 1st Marines Regimental Engineers in Seoul, Korea where he was in charge of maps, an experience that led to a lifelong love of geography. He was honorably discharged from the Marine Corps in 1954. Upon his return to Green Bay he was hired by the Green Bay and Western Railroad and served as a switchman for the railroad for 39 years. He was wedded to Marlene Fenlon on June 22, 1957 at St. Patrick's church in Green Bay and together raised eight children.

As his children matured, Lee discovered a love of the outdoors where he spent many summers camping at Chute Pond and later retired in Crivitz, WI in 1993, returning to Green Bay in 2006. In retirement Lee honed his art skills painting beautiful florals and landscapes for his wife and children. He also was an avid reader, with Leo Tolstoy and James Michener among his favorite authors. Packer fan is not a big enough phrase for Lee's passion for the Green Bay Packers. The front office at 1265 Lombardi Avenue missed a great opportunity by not hiring Lee as General Manager, Coach, and team historian. Sundays in the fall will be slightly quieter around Green Bay. Besides the Packers, Lee enjoyed the Brewers, Badgers, crossword puzzles, and computers. But most of all, he especially loved spending time with his large family in and around Green Bay. He also found great joy in visiting his sons and daughters in Texas, Virginia, California, Alabama, Iowa, and Indiana, with many stops along the routes traveled. He will miss his best buddy, Annie, a shih tzu mix dog.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, Benjamin A. Clark Jr., Robert J. Clark, Francis J. Clark, Raymond J. Clark, Gerald E. Clark; three sisters, Susan Loehlein (James), Norma Ward (Don), and Laverne Wyman (Bob); grandchild Aubrey Detennis; and great grandchild Gavin Summers.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Marlene (Fenlon); his eight children, Andrew J. Clark (Jeannie) of Crosby, TX, Debra M. Dehn (Tom) of Pulaski, WI, Terrence P. Clark (Irina) of Cottage Grove, WI, Robert J. Clark (Kathy) of Pulaski, WI, Laurie A. Clark of Toledo, OH, Douglas M. Clark (Chelsey) of Woodland Hills, CA, Amy J. Dobratz (Tim) of Ashwaubenon, WI, and Kim M. Detennis (Paulie) of Green Bay, WI, in addition to numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. Lee is also survived by three sisters, Kay Possley, Mary Ann Clark, and Patricia Dudek as well as sisters-in-law, Joyce Clark and Patricia Clark of Green Bay.

Family and friends may call Wednesday, March 19, 2014, from 3:00pm until 4:45pm, at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 1484 9th St., Green Bay. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the church on Wednesday at 5:00pm with Rev. Patrick Beno officiating. Burial will be in Allouez Catholic Cemetery.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at Manor Care East and Unity Hospice, especially Dr. Patricia Neuman, Cathy M, RN, Melissa, and Lizzie for their wonderful care.

In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established.
