Helen M. Kelly, age 100, passed away on Saturday, May 20, 2017, at a local nursing home.
Helen was a lifelong resident of Green Bay WI. She was born April 22, 1917 to Eli Bodart and Natalie
Wittkopf. After a brief stint at farming in the old Duck Creek area, she and her boys moved to Green
Bay. For many years she worked at several Green Bay landmarks, including Schweger Drugstore, and
Kaaps restaurant. After retiring she volunteered at Bethesda and over the years at Salvation Army.
She was a lifelong member of the Grace Lutheran church choir and never missed singing on Christmas
and Easter even though she had to get up very early and take a cab to get there. She loved to travel
and enjoyed her Mystery Trips and day trips as well. She was a woman of faith and her faith helped
her through many of life's tragedies. She always managed to keep smiling and have a great sense of
humor, even though over the course of her life she suffered many heartbreaking losses. She will be
missed.
Helen is preceded in death by her parents Eli and Natalie, sisters; Evelyn Connelley, Merecedes
Johnson, Beatrice Scanlan, and baby Eunice Bodart, along with brothers; Myron Bodart, Winfred
Bodart and William Bodart.
Helen has suffered many losses over her many years, but none so great as the loss of her three sons;
Gene Kelly, James Kelly and William Kelly. In addition to her sons, she lost her second grandchild
Tommy Kelly and most recently her daughter-in-law Sally Borremans Kelly.
She is survived by her grandchildren; Sue Kelly Altergott, Tim Kelly, Sara Kelly Underwood, Shannon
Kelly Tonn, Anjuanet Kelly Lambrecht, and Jamie Kelly, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews,
many church friends, choir members and coworkers at Bethesda and her friends at Salvation Army.
The family would like to thank Clarissa Erickson, her special friend for her many kindnesses to Helen.
Visitation will be held from 3:00 pm until 4:30 pm on Friday, June 2, 2017, at Newcomer Funeral Home, 340 S. Monroe Ave, Green Bay. A funeral service will take place at 4:30 pm at the funeral home. Burial will be at Fort Howard Cemetery.
