Helen Chekouras, 87, of Green Bay, departed this life on Thursday, April 14, 2016.
Helen was born on May 3, 1928 in Green Bay, daughter of the late Theodore and Laura (Nickolai) Chekouras. She was a graduate of Green Bay East High School. During her career Helen worked for H.C. Prange Co., Mirro Aluminum in Manitowoc, and later Paragon Electric in Two Rivers. She returned to Green Bay to retire. Helen was an avid Elvis fan. She also loved butterflies, the Olympics, the Kentucky Derby and enjoyed watching TCM (Turner Classic Movies). Helen was a woman of strong faith and was a faithful communicant of St. Francis Xavier Cathedral. She will be remembered for her lovely smile which she kept to the very end.
She is survived by the family she so dearly loved including her sisters, Mildred Suplinski of Green Bay and Rose Marie (John) Chmura of Ocala, FL; sister-in-law, Dorothy Chekouras of Green Bay, in addition to several nieces, nephews and family. Helen is preceded in death by her brother, Raymond Chekouras and brother-in-law, Harold Suplinski.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 30th from 10 to 11:45 AM at St. Francis Xavier Cathedral Resurrection Room. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12 NOON in the Cathedral. Interment will be in Allouez Catholic Cemetery.
