Hazel Elizabeth Latsha, 93, of the Town Of Ledgeview, WI peacefully passed away on January 29, 2017 at Aurora Bay Care Medical Center, Green Bay, WI. Hazel was born on November 25, 1923 in Shamokin, PA of the late Annie (Tuckett) and John P. Metz. Hazel married William E. Latsha on 2-15-47 and they were married for over 59 years until his death on 5-9-06. Hazel and William were residents of Strasburg, PA for over 49 years, living in the home they built together. They attended Calvary Monument Bible Church in Paradise.
Hazel was a loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother and a friend to many. She was known as a great cook and baker, and enjoyed walking, gardening, sewing, knitting and crocheting. She especially loved cooking with Susan in "Hazel's Kitchen". Mom dearly loved the AKC Champion Boston Terriers bred, owned and shown by Susan. The Bostons all took turns sitting on Mom's lap while she was on her rocker. All our Bostons miss her, especially her favorite boy, Vinny.
Hazel is survived by her 2 children, William J. Latsha and his wife Jeanette (Dosch) of Lancaster, PA and Susan M. LeCalsey and her husband Louis of Ledgeview, WI, 2 grandsons: Paul David LeCalsey and wife Paula (Heimerman) and Jonathan William Latsha and his wife Lisa (Stekervetz) of East Petersburg, PA, and 5 great grandchildren that she dearly loved.
Hazel sold their home in the spring of 2009, and moved to live with her daughter Susan and Louis. For the last 7 years Hazel enjoyed spending time with her great granddaughter Sophia, daughter of Paul and Paula.
The family would like to thank the staff at New Perspective Senior Living where Mom spent her last 3 months, for their wonderful care of Hazel with special thanks to Amber Gillis, Director of Wellness, for the unconditional love she had shown to our Mother. And to all her caregivers in Betty's Harbor Memory Care and the dining room attendants. Thank You. Mom loved you all.
Hazel was a 9 year Breast Cancer survivor and will be lovingly remembered and sorrowfully missed by her family and friends.
